It is Possible For You to Refinance With Bad Credit!

You can refinance with bad credit. You do not have to have a perfect credit score to get the help you need. With the wide spread foreclosure problems, banks are doing everything they can to lower the rate at which people are losing their homes. Bad credit or not, if you need help with your finances you can most likely refinance your way to financial stability.

Before you start, get a copy of your credit report from the three major credit reporting companies. This is free and can be done online. You should then look at them carefully and make sure there are no mistakes. If you have outstanding accounts or old loans that still appear, get them taken off. This may require a phone call or a letter to the lender. If you have a bad debt or anything that has gone to collection, make sure it is really your debt and then make sure it is settled. Often times the collection agency does not notify the credit reporting company that the debt is settled. This may also take a few phone calls or letters to settle. Finally, if you have multiple credit cards, both national and store versions, you might consider closing some of these accounts. A small amount of available credit is better than multiple cards with varying amounts of credit.

When you get to your lender, be ready with all of your documentation and the information you will need to answer the questions you will be asked. If you have shown responsibility to your debt reduction plans, and a sincere desire to get on track financially you will look like a good risk to the bank. In reality, the worst part of a poor credit history is the interest rate you will qualify for. The better your credit the better the rate. The good news here is that interest rates are very low, so even a "high" rate in this environment will be fairly low.

Many people with poor credit feel inferior and at the whim of the lender they find. You have the right to be firm and demand good treatment and rates. Many less than honest lenders seek out people with poor credit to take advantage of. If you are looking to refinance and you have poor credit, be sure that you find a reputable lender. Getting into trouble with a scam loan is the last thing you need. Subprime lender can be reputable, but you want to be sure that you are dealing with an above board company. Ask friends and co-workers who they have used and stick with affiliates of well known national banks. If you have an account in a local bank that you are happy with you can also start there.

A refinance is doable for almost anyone who can follow the steps necessary to get one. Keep your wits about you and get the information you need. Financial improvement could be loser that you think.

It may be better for you to get a loan modification instead of refinancing.
